It's all about building a little bit of simple goodness into everything we do. From the design of our restaurants, to minimizing our environmental footprint, to our locally sourced ingredients, to the way we treat one another. We provide an oasis of sense and substance. We think it's possible to serve thousands of like-minded friends.

This grounded sense of possibility is the foundation for the genuine and renewing experience that is our ultimate product. We make food that fits™ your wallet, your tastes, your values, your style, and your true self and we deliver it in a place that brings out your best without forcing you to pretend to be anything but hungry and hopeful.

We believe that eating healthy and delicious food should be simple. That is why whenever you step into a sweetgreen, rest assured that anything you order will not only taste good, but also be good for you.

We believe that sweetgreen is more than just a place or a store, it is a mindset. The sweetlife is a state of mind delivering comfort, warmth, freedom, relaxation and discovery. That is why every time a customer interacts with Sweetgreen, he or she is immediately transported to their very own sweetlife where doing well and doing good is easy, where fashion and form align, where fun and fit partner.

We believe that good for business and good for community should go together. This is why we often partner with various causes and continually support community events.

Nicolas Jammet, Jonathan Neman, and Nathaniel Ru, three like-minded Georgetown students and food lovers, spent their undergraduate years living in a neighborhood with limited food options. After three years of asking each other "Where should we go eat?", they started to instead ask themselves, "Why not create a place that we would want to eat at on a daily basis?" The result: an idea for a simple, healthy, fast-casual oasis with a focus on high-quality ingredients. In 2007, Sweetgreen was born.

We look forward to consistently setting the bar in the world of sustainable practices because we have always believed in the importance of socially responsible business. Actions speak louder than words, so here is how we act at sweetgreen:

farm to table

It's our commitment to source our food locally. In contrast, most food reaching the U.S. consumer travels 1,000 to 2,000 miles. Combine that with the extremely horrible MPGs of a typical 18-wheeler, and we are talking about some serious carbon emissions. Our local sourcing gets fresh food into our restaurant without all of that unnecessary travel. Plus, you can't beat the freshness that comes from friendly local farmers.

wildflower menus

Recycled menus are sweet. But recycled menus embedded with wildflower seeds are even sweeter. Yes, that means you can plant our menus. Our customers love sending us photos of the flowers when they sprout.

clean currents

We really wanted to buy our own wind farm, but that got fairly complicated. Instead, we purchase carbon-offset credits with Clean Currents to reduce our carbon footprint.
