Only a few days left until we officially open our doors for the second time in Philadelphia. Sweetgreen UPenn at 3925 Walnut Street will be ready to shower University of Pennsylvania salads, wraps and sweetflow next Tuesday, April 12 at 11am. Deirdre Smith, resident of Philadelphia PA, entered and won our Sweet Ride Photo Contest which ended this past Friday. Her photo received a ton of support, and from March 4 to March 25th, collected 223 “likes” on Facebook. Deirdre will get her brand new Republic bike on opening day of sweetgreen UPenn! Congratulations Deirdre! Thank you to everyone who submitted a photo with the bike over the course of the contest.

Construction in our new UPenn store in Philadelphia is nearly complete! We have a busy week finishing up in preparation for final inspections. Here are a few sneak peek photos of our store so far. In the first photo you can see a new tile detail we are using on the corners- it mimics the corner detail of our first location in the little tavern in Georgetown. The next photo shows a ceiling detail we are installing in this location as well as some new light fixtures. The lights are wrapped here, but they are barn style lamps which are over our serve line and seating area. You’ll notice the big wooden “cloud” we have floating in the space. This piece is done by STAACH, a millworker we are using for the wood details and furniture in this location; check out his other stuff at www.staach.com.

Congratulations to Cari Hayes, UPenn student and now the proud owner of a sweet Republic bike. Her photo racked up an impressive 300+ “likes” over the course of the contest. If this is you, you’re the perfect fit to be our campus brand ambassador. We want you to create and build the buzz on campus for one of the hottest growing companies in the region. This opportunity is a great way to pump up your resume with experience in social media outreach, experiential campaign strategy, plus planning and executing the store opening strategy in April.
Responsibilities include:
-distribute promotional items on campus
- create relationships and communicate with on-campus groups and activities
- build epic campaigns and buzz on campus about opening
- manage a highly involved street team
- hours are flexible, but a minimum commitment of 10 hrs/wk is required. Most work can be completed remotely, but weekly check-ins will also be required.
