OK, at least everyone with an iPhone or Android can win free food and stuff. We’re now live on SCVNGR, a geolocation smartphone app that lets you check-in at a venue (like sweetgreen), play simple challenges, and gain points towards winning a prize. Take one of our challenges like taking a picture of your salad and posting it on Facebook. Once you gain enough points, you can unlock rewards including a free soup, sweetflow, or a percentage off your salad!

Gabi Lopez and friends stopped by sweetgreen Capitol Hill in between briefings for a sweetflow break.  The girls are from Wellesley College in Massachusetts and were accepted to a two-week winter session program in Washington that aims to show all the different ways women can engage in public service.  Thanks Gabi for snapping the awesome photos!

With news of an impending snowstorm, we closed all of our restaurants early.   When we caught wind of an epic snowball fight in Dupont Circle, we decided at the last minute that sweetgreen Dupont Circle store would stay open just for the fight!  Great work Metromix DC and the new DC Snowball Fight Association for making Dupont’s 2011 Snowball Fight a success.  The brave warriors who ventured in for a steaming bowl of soup got free limited edition sweetgreen beanies to complement their snow gear.  Enjoy today’s snow everyone.

Many of Reston’s finest joined us to re-ring in the new year at sweetgreen Reston Town Center on Thursday night.  We were extremely excited about Rob Myers and Javier Miranda’s live performance and they did not disappoint.  They mezmerized everyone with their laidback groove and let some of the youngest guests rock out on the congas.  The food was fabulous which featured signature falafel, chevre cheese crostini with spicy pickles and pesto, and honey roasted turkey wraps.  Guests shared their goals for 2011 and we toasted in their new sweetgreen champagne flutes.  It was a great way to join together with the community and kick off the new year with a fresh start.  A big thank you to everyone who celebrated with us and a very sweet new year to all!
