random act of sweetness: free salads in the circle

Last week, the sun shone brighter than it has in a long, long time.  We decided to celebrate by giving out free salads to the people in Dupont Circle enjoying the beautiful afternoon.  We gave people 15 minutes notice via Twitter and Facebook to meet us at the fountain in Dupont Circle. Nadal and I walked over from the store with 25 salads, jumped up on the fountain and announced “free Sweetgreen salads!”  Everything was gone within a few minutes; the people were really happy to have a nice sweetgreen salad on a sunny day in the park.

Dr. Brady’s dentist office in Dupont Circle has lured in sweetgreen associates one by one.  Besides painless root canals, we love that they practice “Vegan Mondays” for lunch.  Last week we surprise-catered Vegan Monday with our sabzi and chic p salads and wraps.  They loved it!

We spotted the following tweet and decided  Tiffany needed some sweetgreen kindness:

I wish @sweetgreen delivered. I’m always in the mood for their tasty salads. Sick day would be complete with one.

This is what we decided to do about it:

sweetgreen: @tiffanyekim  not to be creepy or anything… since you’re sick, we might be able to work something out…

tiffanyekim: @sweetgreen don’t tease!!!!!!! I live in woodley park. I could roll down the hill to dupont in my blanket.

sweetgreen:  @tiffanyekim not teasing – DM us with your address & we’ll be there in 30

sweetgreen:  PS – what salad would you like?

tiffanyekim:  You guys are unbelievable.

tiffanyekim:  I would like mesc. mix and romaine, tofu, tomatoes, carrots, black beans, spicy kale.

tiffanyekim:  Parmesan crisp, honey dijon vinagrette! and of course that amazing bread. I will pay double for this…you guys are amazing

We love to brighten people’s days with random acts of sweetness.  We’ve been known to leave sweetgreen giftcards around town for those who least expect it.  The New York Times thought it was a cool idea, and the tradition has stuck around the office, too. 

Tim, our construction manager, kindly thought to give Azeb, our accountant, her favorite strawberry shortcake after a 7 hour long meeting.
