music friday: best music blogs

Besides sweetgreen of course, here is a list of some of our favorite music blogs that help keep us in touch with new music news and discover old classics.

1. All Things Go

All Things Go is your best link to the DC indie music scene. Their blog features upcoming DC music events (many of which are hosted by All Things Music themselves), music news, interviews, mixtapes, great remixes and more.

2. We All Want Someone To Shout For

We All Want Someone to Shout For is a New York based music blog with a fresh perspective on new music. The posts are thoughtful and well chosen with mp3 samples and videos of newly released music and artists to watch.

3.Smashed Speakers

Smashed Speakers features fantastic music taste and accurate album reviews. Not only can you read about great music but the site also frequently gives links for free downloads. With fun theme posts such as retro Sundays and detailed concert reviews, Smashed Speakers isn’t your average music blog.

4. Guardian’s New Band of the Day

Based out of the UK, this blog does an article a day featuring a new band. The blog truly epitomizes the meaning of indie as chances are, you’ve probably never heard of these bands before. With that being said, the talent is not lacking in the least. This is a great source to find your new favorite band that you can watch grow and become successful over the upcoming years.

5. Et Musique Pour Tous

Categorizing itself as “space age bachelor pad music” Et Musique Pour Tous can only be described as high quality. With their witty and insightful writing, music reviews, and mix tapes the writers feature their superb taste in music. The blog is updated daily and features the latest and greatest so their readers are the first to know about new releases, collaborations, remixes, and more.

6. Asian Dan

Asian Dan is dedicated to fresh music and exclusive content. Frequent interviews and exclusive mixes from DJ’s and artists keep this blog on the cutting edge. With an archive of great music and videos Asian Dan is the place to find your next favorite song.

7. Sundtrak

Sundtrak is formatted as a music diary of sorts. This makes the writing personal, honest, and often humorous. The head writer, Jon, posts new music, album reviews, mixtapes, as well news. The blog’s highlight, however, is the posting of tracks that Jon is in the mood for at the moment with descriptions that verbalize the important connections between emotions and music. Sundtrak is raw, fresh, and personal, a great way to discover new music.

things we dig: all things go

Run by sweetgreen friend Will Suter of Honor Roll Records, All Things Go is a music, news, art, and MP3 website based in Washington, DC (their writing staff includes sweetgreen alum McKee Floyd). They not only have great posts, reviews, interviews and articles, ATG hosts events at venues across the city.  They are the ultimate source for the many great (inter)national music happenings, and we are pumped about collaborating with them in the coming months to bring you awesome music finds. You can catch their correspondents at Coachella, Lollapalooza, SXSW, CMJ, Art Basel, and Pop Montreal. Check them out!

welcome to the sweetlife

Jon-+-Olivia-Sweetlife
You’ve landed on our brand new blog, the sweetlife! We hope you join in our excitement and hang out for a while, or at least long enough to read this. You might be asking yourself, “What exactly is the sweetlife?” Our simplest answer: it’s a mindset. It encompasses everything we do and envision here at sweetgreen, where doing good is easy, where fashion and form align, and where fun and fit partner. All of this boils down to the three dimensions – food, lifestyle and community – showcased by the layout in front of you. We’ll be updating on a regular basis, so keep checking back for more! Right now, though, we invite you to explore the three dimensions and to let them resonate with you. After all, the sweetlife is meant to be shared. Live it with us.
