We have had an amazing time visiting the third graders at Cleveland Elementary. To recap, in February we taught the kids about “Eating the Rainbow” where the students prepared salads using a colorful variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, and we discussed the nutrients and health benefits of each. In March, we did a lesson called “Eat with the Season!” The students created salads using seasonal fruits and vegetables, and we talked about what it means to eat seasonally and locally. Each student received a seasonal produce calendar to help them create a salad for their birthday month. The final lesson of sweetgreen in schools will be culminating at The Sweetlife Festival. Sweetgreen has invited the third grade students of Cleveland Elementary to come to the Festival for a special field trip! Students will be given a kid-friendly tour of the Festival’s fun, interactive exhibits. After the activities, the kids will have a picnic lunch and we will talk about how the food they are eating not only tastes good but is good for them, too! We can’t wait to see students at Sweetlife Festival! If your’re there, look out for kids running around Merriweather Post Pavilion in their green shirts.
The Cleveland Elementary Kids will enjoy a great day of of food, play and activation at the Sweetlife Festival. The tour will take them through OPOWER’s human movement activities, race each other on the energy bikes in the Global Inheritance PSP Lounge and release their inner Picasso’s on Applegates’s Canvas Wall. They’ll also feast on tasty (and delicious) treats from MOM’s Organic Market, Stonyfield, sweetgreen and quench their thirst like nature intended them to, with some good ol’ Honest Tea.
